About JPG to PNG

JPG to PNG on MyConvert turns a JPEG photo, scan, or exported graphic into a PNG file you can download in the browser. People use it when a website, slide deck, or design tool asks for PNG, when they want a format that keeps a hard edge without another generation of JPEG blur, or when a phone camera roll is full of JPG files that a printer portal will not accept. You do not install a photo editor and you do not create a paid account. The result is one PNG for the one image you uploaded.

The tool is free for guests and for signed-in members. A guest can upload a file up to 25 MB. A member can upload a file up to 100 MB. Guest results stay available for 30 minutes after the job finishes so you can download them, then the files are deleted. Members keep results for 24 hours. Those clocks are the retention rules for this converter, not a promise to host a photo library.

The work happens on MyConvert servers over HTTPS in production. The browser sends the JPEG you selected, the worker writes a PNG, and the page offers the download. There is no extension to approve and no desktop plug-in. On a phone the same page accepts a file from the camera roll. The drop zone is also a button, so you can open the file picker from the keyboard and see progress announced on the page.

This is the right tool when you already have a JPG or JPEG and you want a PNG of that same picture. It is the wrong tool for a PDF page, a multi-page scan, or a raw camera file. It accepts one image at a time. It does not add a transparent background that was never in the JPEG, and it does not enlarge a small photo into a sharp large one. A JPEG has already thrown away some detail, and converting the container to PNG does not invent that detail back. Use it to change the format, then check the download before you publish it.

MyConvert does not sell a JPG plan and does not show a pricing page. Advertising, when it is enabled, sits below the form or beside the finished download and does not cover the Download button. You can refuse advertising scripts and still convert the image. Only an essential session cookie is required, so the same browser can collect the PNG. If the job fails, the page shows a plain reason and a support reference you can send with a question. The path is short: add the JPEG, wait for the PNG, download it, and let the retention window close.

Limits

Good to know

  • One JPEG per job. PDF files and other image types are not accepted here.
  • Transparency is not invented, and a small photo is not upscaled into a sharper one.
  • Password-protected or truncated JPEG files cannot be converted.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is JPG to PNG free?

Yes. Guests and members both use it at no charge. There is no paid conversion plan.

Will the PNG look sharper than the JPG?

No. The tool changes the file format. Detail that a JPEG already discarded is not reconstructed.

Does it make the background transparent?

No. A JPEG has no transparency to preserve. The PNG keeps the picture that was in the JPEG.

Can I convert several photos at once?

This tool accepts one image per job. Run it again for the next photo.

Are my photos deleted?

Guest files are deleted after the 30 minute download window. Signed-in files are kept for 24 hours and then deleted.

Do I need an account?

No. An account is optional and only extends how long the PNG stays available.
